If you’ve been thinking a shiny new video would be just the thing to round out your business’s marketing endeavors, you’re probably right. Video is expected to make up 82% of internet traffic by 2022 (Cisco, 2019) and it’s a consumer’s favorite type of social media content to see from a brand (Animoto, 2018).

That’s why I put together this handy flowchart to help you get started. Once you’ve arrived at an endpoint, check out the list below for more info about each video type.

Testimonial

What it is: Interview-based video featuring customers’ positive experiences with a product or service 
Best for: Established businesses and/or a product that’s easy to understand

Animated Explainer 

What it is: Graphic-style video that represents concepts visually
Best for: Educational or other complex topics that benefit from clear visual representation

Video Series

What it is: Two or more videos with a shared topic
Best for: Educational or training videos, or any content-heavy topic best consumed in bite-sized pieces 

Punchy Promo

What it is: A video with enticing visuals and music (energetic voiceover optional)
Best for: Brand recognition, general promotion, products or services that need little to no explanation
