2018 was a big year in the New Boston video department! We produced over 20 videos in the last 12 months. Here’s a look back at a just a handful of our projects.

McCownGordon Construction - various projects

Our videos for McCownGordon Construction last year led me to tour some amazing buildings: Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Salina Schools, and Clay County Medical Center (where I got to go in a brand-spankin’ new operating room — but not without proper attire!)

Kansas Farm Bureau – Farm Food Tour

In September, I hopped on a small bus with eight food bloggers from all over the country, a nutritionist, a farmer, and our friends from Kansas Farm Bureau and Kansas Soybean, and traveled around the state to learn more about where our food comes from. We visited a pig farm (where we had an incredible meal of — you guessed it — pork), corn and soybean fields, a feedyard with an ethanol plant, a dairy, an Angus cattle ranch, an organic vegetable operation, and lots and lots of restaurants serving delicious local food!

aTa Bus - How to Ride

If you’re from Manhattan, you may have noticed that aTa Bus added new routes — and signs and stops and bus wraps — which means more people need to know how to use the aTa Bus to get around town!

Global Food Systems - A Challenge

For this video, I had the pleasure of working with K-State DCM’s video team to find footage from across campus to illustrate that the global food system is more than just farmers — it involves all fields of art, science, and technology working together.

Kansas Appleseed - Grow Strong Kansas

In February, we wrapped this video for Kansas Appleseed, an anti-poverty nonprofit advocacy organization. I’m pretty proud of the work our graphic designers and I did to create this colorful, animated spot, and we were even able to hire a native Kansan to be the voice!

Professor Powers - Home Energy Video

We created three new videos with our favorite energy efficiency-lovin’ eccentric scientist and the folks at K-State Engineering Extension. You know it’s going to be a fun video when vampire teeth, lab coats, and an ice cube made of spaghetti are on your prop list...

Pi Kappa Alpha - Chapter House Expansion Project

It warmed our hearts to hear these Kansas State University alumni reminisce about the good ol’ days, and to see how appreciative current members are of the impressive house upgrades — done by our friends at McCownGordon Construction.

I’m so grateful for all the clients we had this year who allowed us to be a part of such amazing projects.  Getting to see and learn new things — and then communicate that to others  — is my favorite part of the job. I can’t wait to see what 2019 brings!
