Shop Kansas Farms
Shop Kansas Farms is an online marketplace owned and operated by Kansas Farm Bureau. The platform connects people looking to purchase local goods with farmers across the state.
The business began as a Facebook group where producers posted what they grew or made for sale, and interested customers could browse the group for offerings. Eventually, they outgrew the platform! Shop Kansas Farms moved to a website, but the site needed upgrades to make it more user-friendly. New Boston Creative Group designed and built exactly what they needed.
To begin, we created website compositions showing what the site would look like, incorporating existing Shop Kansas Farms branding and colors to ensure a consistent look and feel. Once the comps were approved, we set to building the website.
The main goal of the website is to help customers find exactly what they’re looking for and what is available in their area. To accomplish this, we developed features allowing users to sort products by category, filter results, search offerings by location and find farms in their region.
To ensure all businesses are legitimate, we created an approval system so farmers who apply to be listed are cleared by the Kansas Farm Bureau team. Once approved, farmers can create an account and update their listings to keep things current.
Since launch, the user- and mobile-friendly website has helped bring consumers locally grown and made goods of all kinds.
