Kansas 4-H Foundation
Kansas 4-H offers hands-on youth development experiences to cultivate the next generation of leaders. The Kansas-4-H Foundation supports these efforts by collaborating with businesses, families and individuals to raise funds for Kansas 4-H and Rock Springs Ranch, the state 4-H center.
As the state’s largest youth development program, it’s important to maintain a strong online presence that reflects the organization’s meaningful impact. The Kansas 4-H Foundation reached out to us to help with website design and development for three different sites. This included combining two existing Rock Springs Ranch websites and creating updated versions of the Kansas 4-H Foundation and Beyond Ready Kansas websites.
Website Design and Composition
We kicked off our work with the Kansas 4-H Foundation by meeting with their team to discuss preferences, goals and must-have features for the new sites. Then we moved into design mode, creating visual concepts that stayed true to established brand elements such as their logo, color palette and typography.
Website Development
NBCG built the sites’ structures in alignment with current W3C standards (best practices determined by the World Wide Web Consortium). We also used the latest version of Drupal to help extend the life of the websites.
The sites were organized around relevant navigation menus and information blocks, providing consistent access to key resources from any page. We worked closely with the Kansas 4-H Foundation to define the most important paths through the site.
The three websites were built with a cohesive visual identity to maintain brand recognition while also incorporating distinctive features that make each site stand out.
Our development process prioritized a mobile-friendly design, ensuring the websites look and work great across all devices.
Content Organization and Website Training
With the sites fully built, we assisted with content migration and setup, ensuring everything was well-organized and accurately displayed.
We also provided hands-on training for the Kansas 4-H Foundation team. This included walking through how to manage and update content, which gives them full control of their sites as well as the tools and knowledge to keep them running smoothly.
