On our way home from Garden City last week, Lisa and I made a detour so I could see the rebuilt town of Greensburg. I’d read online about these amazing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-certified buildings that had been built to demonstrate the community’s commitment to coming back from the May 2007 tornado in a green, sustainable way, and I wanted to see them for myself.

As the long, dreary, cold days of winter drag on (even though it hasn’t really been all THAT cold), I can’t help but wait for the arrival of spring, reason number one being COLOR! Soon the flowers will be in bloom and everything will come back to life with rich, vibrant colors that are sure to make anyone’s day brighter.

My mom and daughter and I used to play the HGTV Drinking Game. Whenever somebody on one of those shows used the phrase “warm and inviting” or “bringing the outdoors in,” we took a drink.
