New Boston Creative Group, LLC, needs an experienced, connected, motivated sales professional who can generate new business through industry research, networking, and cold calls (the shy and recently graduated need not apply). This will be a commission-based position that will require some travel, primarily in the Midwest. We'll consider both full and part-time arrangements.
The chosen candidate will be a proven performer (show us sales numbers, goal attainment, concrete achievements) who can represent our business to prospective clients in target markets. Previous experience in marketing, communications, brand development or advertising is preferred. Experience in selling professional or consulting services is required.
We are interested in hiring someone with contacts outside of the immediate Flint Hills region as well as outside the state of Kansas. This person must be flexible and polished enough to work with people in various industries, from engineers to business owners to government employees.
Strong written and oral communications skills: Our representative must be able to express him or herself in a polished, persuasive and accurate manner, in person and in writing. Public speaking experience is a plus.
Flexibility: We’re looking for someone who can work autonomously, reporting to our Manhattan, Kansas, office. If the chosen candidate lives in the Manhattan area, he or she is welcome to make our office his or her home base; however, relocation to Manhattan is not a requirement and we'll consider part-time.
Professional phone and in-person demeanor: Our chosen candidate will be the first contact with prospective clients, so professional attire and courtesy, as well as timely follow-through on client contacts and referrals, will be essential.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, marketing, business, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute.
Creative problem-solving skills: During initial contacts with prospective clients, this person must be able to interview them about their marketing/communications/branding needs and budgets and then relay this information to the creative team. The successful candidate must be able to determine whether a candidate is a good business prospect, and must contribute to discussions to determine the best strategy for meeting the client’s goals.
Organized: The chosen candidate will learn our business management software system and use it for tracking prospective opportunities and charting follow-up efforts. The candidate will develop detailed systems for identifying new clients and following up on leads, as well as carrying out client relationship-building activities.
Initiative: The successful candidate will constantly explore new markets for our services, as well as new ways to reach prospective clients. He or she will take the initiative to keep the principals completely informed of all his or her business activities and decisions.
Ability to travel: This person must be willing to travel regularly throughout the Midwest to make sales calls and presentations. Reliable ground transportation required.
Confidence: The chosen candidate will be a confident person who can pique people’s interest in New Boston and close the deal. The income potential of this position is unlimited and will directly correlate to the person’s ability to land solid, long-term clients and sell them on our services.
